A gift involves anything that is given willingly to someone else without the exchange for anything like payments. Gifting is an expression of love and appreciation. It is a great act of kindness that Islam highly encourages. Plus, it is sunnah of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
The greatest Gifter is Allah and The Greatest Gift he has given us is Islam. As Muslims, we are blessed to be in the right path and thankful to be on the path of Islam.
"I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we believe in you and in that with which you were sent. Do you fear for us?' The Prophet said: Yes, for the hearts are between the fingers of Allah. He turns them whichever way He wills."

There are so many Gifts in our lives that we take for granted, but we must remind ourselves daily that we are always blissed for the Gifts we have around us and will have. Our health, wealth, food, family, a place to live, and many more. These are the best gifts that anyone can ever receive!
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"O Allah, bring our hearts together, reconcile between us, guide us to ways of peace, and deliver us from darkness into light. Keep us away from immorality, outwardly and inwardly, and bless us in our hearing, our seeing, our hearts, our spouses, and our children. Accept our repentance, for You alone are the Relenting, the Merciful. Make us grateful for Your blessings, praising and accepting them, and give them to us in full."

As Muslims, it is our duty to maintain good relationship with everyone especially the ones related directly to us. We do that with constant contacts from visitation, to calling, to helping out, and gifting. There are many reasons why Gifting keeps these relationships strong:
- Strengthen family relationship.
Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “give presents to one another for this would increase your mutual love”
Gifting connects the hearts, strengthen the bonds, maintain harmony and love, and creates beautiful memories. It doesn’t have to be for a specific or special occasion.
- Establishing long term relationship with others like neighbors, coworkers, etc
Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"No human being will enter Paradise if there is as much as the weight of a seed of arrogance in his heart."

Showing gratitude and thankfulness at work, welcoming others to the neighborhood, and sending Dua and love to the sick are ways to maintain a positive long-term relationship with others. Gifting is a great way to show your gratitude, appreciation, respect, and care for others.

- Help our community with gifting and donations especially during Eid time, War, natural disasters, and to fight poverty.
In Chapter 2, verse 274 of the Quran, Allah says:
“Those who spend their money in the night and in the day, secretly and openly, they will have their reward with their Lord, there is no fear over them nor will they grieve.” [Quran 2:274]
- It is The Sunnah.
"The Prophet said to me: Young man, that is my Sunnah. Whoever revives my Sunnah has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise."

What is more honorable and greater than being with the prophet in Paradise?! To follow the path of Sunnah when gifting, you simply give the best gift within your means, a thoughtful gift that the recipient will love, not something that you want to throw away or was laying in your house and you never used. Also, as a recipient, you must be kind, loving, and not condescending if the gift turned out something “you don’t need” or in your thoughts was “cheap” it is the act and thought that counts! Be thankful, accepting, and loving to maintain the relationship.
- Strengthen your Iman and Believe in Allah
Anas ibn Malik reported: "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The servant does not attain the reality of faith until he loves for people what he loves for himself of goodness."
- Gain Hasanat (credit for good deeds) because our ultimate goal is to enter Paradise! And we can do that all together if we have the same goal, same intention, and righteous deeds to seek the pleasure of Allah swt.
